Congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Global Studies!
“Nothing about us without us."
This phrase, used by a South African organization of people with disabilities, has become a slogan for the global disability movement and led to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The voices of these organizations, pushing forward despite numerous social challenges, reflect the resilience of the people living in those communities.
Let the empathy you have nurtured at FGS, which brings you closer to the world, guide you in your respective paths.
Wishing you all the best!

It gives me immense pleasure to share this special occasion with all of you.
As a faculty still in its youth, celebrating the 10th anniversary, I imagine our graduates are equally young, busy acquiring new knowledge, and constantly looking ahead.
If today presents an opportunity for reflection, I believe it is because each of you has worked tirelessly to achieve your successes.
Let us continue to look forward, so that when we reach the 20th anniversary, we may look back and proudly recognize how far we have come.
I wish you all continued health, and the utmost success in your future endeavors, with sustainability at the core of your efforts.

Dear Alumni of the Faculty of Global Studies,
Since I joined Sophia University in 2015, I have been continually impressed by the fact that the phenomenon often referred to as "youth apathy towards politics" in Japan does not apply to the students of the Faculty of Global Studies.
On an international scale, it is not uncommon for young people to raise their voices against social issues, and perhaps it is not surprising that all of you, with your ability to view societal phenomena from a global perspective, do the same.
However, it is no small feat to speak out against injustices such as environmental destruction, nuclear energy, the massacre of civilians in Gaza by Israel, human rights violations against immigrants and refugees, gender inequality, and violence against women.
Even when mocked as being part of the so-called “woke generation," you remain undeterred in your pursuit of global justice.
It is because of your steadfast courage and advocacy that I am grateful every day to have come to Sophia University.
